ACT

The number of students graduating in 2006 who took the ACT test during their high school career was 143. The total number of graduates was 329.

Graduates who selected four years or more college indicated their interests ranked most to least in the following areas: Other, Technical, Administration and Sales, Business Operations, Social Service, Arts, and Science and Technology.  Since more than 40% of our students continue their education after high school it is important to provide college preparation courses for those. All students need more exposure to reading, writing, and mathematics to become successful in further education or the world of work. With the campus improvement plan we should be giving students more opportunities to be successful in all three areas.

Counselor Campus Visits

Generally follow-up surveys have been ineffective due to the lack of student response. Visitation by counseling staff allows for some contact with college students annually. College students that graduated from South High are invited to a meeting at the college campus for an exchange with counselors.  Participation is voluntary and not well attended.
