MISSION STATEMENT
To engage students in a challenging curriculum so that they will become responsible, productive citizens who value differences and can adapt to a changing world.
VISION STATEMENT
Students and staff at Wichita High School South will form a collaborative learning community using best practices to provide a variety of learning experiences that allow students to examine options, take risks, use imagination and demonstrate mastery.
VALUES AND BELIEFS
We will: teach numeracy and literacy across the curriculum; provide an equitable education for all students in a safe and nurturing environment; use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate individual learning styles; raise the level of academic rigor in all classes; reduce the number of students who fail courses by providing extra time and support to those who need it; raise the graduation rate; increase the rate of daily attendance by making attendance phone calls; work collaboratively with parents to encourage student achievement through the Pyramid of Interventions and mailing progress reports home every three weeks; promote connectivity by providing opportunities for students to become involved in extracurricular activities; make AYP in mathematics and reading on the Kansas Assessments.
