History of JROTC The
Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program was founded in 1911 in
Cheyenne, Wyoming, by Army Lieutenant Edgar R. Steevers.
JROTC
began with the passage of the National Defense Act in 1916.
JROTC is now in more than 1400 high schools worldwide; it is in all 50
states and also in American High Schools in the Federal Republic of Germany,
Korea, Japan and Panama.
History of South High JROTCOn December13, 1993, the board of Education approved a JROTC curriculum for Wichita Public Schools. In August 1994, South along with Northwest and West became the first schools to receive a JROTC program. The first instructors were SAI CPT Steve Stillwell and AI MSG Robert Kerns. The current instructors are SAI CW4 Lewis Graytok and AI ISG Don Phillips. |
