NCAA
Clearinghouse Website
If
students are interested in competing in athletics at the NCAA Division I or II
level, certain requirements must be met. Fourteen (14) core credits must be
completed with a minimum 2.0 or higher GPA.
Core
Courses
For
Division I the 14 core credits are as follows: 4 credits English, 2 credits math
(algebra and geometry), 2 credits science, 2 credits social science, 1 credit of
an additional English, math, or science, and 3 credits of additional core
classes.
Test Scores
To qualify for Division I a student
must have a sum score on the ACT of 68-86, depending on the student’s GPA. The
lower the core GPA the higher the test score must be. For example: a student
with a core GPA of 2.0 must have an 86 sum score on the ACT. A student with a 68
sum score on the ACT must have a core GPA of 2.5 or above. To qualify of
Division II the student must have the minimum core GPA of 2.0 and an ACT sum
score of 68.
Registration
If students are interested in
registering with the Clearinghouse they are encouraged to complete a form at the
end of their junior year. Students
can register online at ncaaclearinghouse.org or request a paper application by
calling 1-888-388-9748. If
applying online, make sure that the signature page is printed out and
bring it to the Registrar’s office. Mrs.
Brewster or Mrs. Faflick will check student curriculum, ACT scores and GPA.
Upon completion of the Initial
Eligibility form the student should mail one copy with a $30.00 check payable to
NCAA Clearinghouse.
The remaining two forms need to be given to the Registrar, who will in turn
forward a transcript to the Clearinghouse at the time of registration and again
upon graduation from high school at which
time final eligibility will be determined.
