Brian Westoff

Coach Brian Westhoff earned a Bachelor’s of Art degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from Fort Hays State University in 2000.  He currently has over 30 graduate hours within the Curriculum and Instruction Transition-to-Teaching program through Wichita State University. This will be Coach Westhoff’s 3rd year of teaching chemistry and biology and coaching at South High.  Prior to his teaching career he spent six years selling insurance and financial services with Farm Bureau and helped start Air Capital Mortgage where he sold, processed, and originated mortgage loans.

Coach Westhoff graduated High School in 1995 from Liberal, Kansas.  While at Liberal he was very active in football and wrestling as well as Redskin Singers, a show choir.  In High School, Coach Westhoff was the starting Right Guard on the 1994 State Championship team smashing Salina Central 40-0 in the Championship Game coached by the legendary high school football coach Gary Cornelson. In wrestling he won 2nd place in the Newton Tournament of Champions only losing by three points to the 6A State Champion from South, Terrell Brown.  Later that year in wrestling, Westhoff suffered some career ending injuries with a broken ankle and later an ACL replacement to his knee.

Last year, Westhoff coached the running backs.  This year he is Junior Varsity Head Coach, Defensive Line Coach and helping coach the offensive line with Coach Johnson.  He loves working with kids and looks forward to building a successful football program at South High with the chance to make the play-offs this year for the first time since 1971.

Coach Westhoff is married to Jennifer (Houston) Westhoff of Anthony, Kansas.  The Westhoffs have two German Shorthair Pointers, Lucy and Job.
